Finally got the NBA back tonight with a full slate, and it did not disappoint. Despite news of Bobby Portis being suspended 25 games 6-hours prior to tip and Giannis would have a minutes restriction on top of that, Bucks beat the Clippers on the back of a vintage Brook Lopez performance. Two key blocks down the stretch from the big man plus a couple of big shots sealed this one. Dame went 2 for 15 from the field yet somehow the Bucks managed to pull it off. Maybe Doc Rivers gets too much hate? They play well when seemingly down talent.
Then in the Suns @ Spurs, De'Aaron Fox decided to go nuclear in the fourth to keep the Spurs playoff hopes alive in spite of the tragic Wemby done-for-season news. Even when the coaching staff decided to outright burn a challenge in what could only be interpreted as a “we've flipped the tanking switch” move, Fox said “Fuck that, we're winning.”
We're doing it all again tomorrow with a 9 game slate. The position we're on that is still actionable is Pistons -4.5 which is available across the board. Spurs are on the second night of a back-to-back and are now clearly short-handed. They have asymmetric risk with the potential B2B rest spots (I think they play, but we know what the Pistons are bringing). Detroit also matches up against a Wemby-less Spurs team quite well. This line is going to -5 and possibly further if anyone else sits.
