A Guide to Betting NBA Wednesday April 2nd
I hope most people reading this email were like me - up way too late watching the double OT thriller in Denver. Nikola Jokić dropped a historic 61-point triple-double and Anthony Edwards was once again torching Denver’s defense with a 34-10-8 stat line. He only had 10 going into the final quarter - Antman going off when it counts most is nothing new.
Wednesday’s NBA’s slate is GROSS- 8 of the 9 games have double digit spreads and so many of the games have completely meaningless implications. Considering the late night with the Nuggets/Wolves, and the terrible card tomorrow, the Wednesday live stream is going to be canceled! It is not worth an hour of any of our time - instead here are all the bets I placed on Wednesdays card thus far and the reasons why.
The screenshots of the whop releases are also below - obviously the numbers have moved but hopefully knowing my position and direction can help inform your decisions.
1. Hornets @ Pacers BET: Over 223.5 (0.5u) The market has 225s, my model 225.8, and despite kind of liking the under based on Indiana’s strong recent defense and Charlotte’s slow pace, I waited for signals before making a move. With some over action showing up, I’m trusting the numbers over opinions and took a small play on overt 223.5.
2. Hawks @ Mavs BET: Dallas -2 (0.75u). This opened at -2 in most books and is now at -4/-4.5, showing strong market support for the Mavericks. The Hawks are on a back-to-back, traveling overnight to Dallas after a home loss to the Blazers, and Trae Young took a hit to the face that left him shaken up but stayed in the game. Great market number + ATL schedule spot + potential Trae injury = DAL -2. Simple gambling math and deductive reasoning.
3. Pistons @ Thunder BET: OKC -13.5 (0.6u) This play hinges on Cade Cunningham being doubtful, as the Pistons struggle without their star point guard. Without him, their offense becomes far less efficient, they run the break less, and their defense drops from Top 10 to Bottom 6—Thunder or nothing.
