Tuesday night was a very mellow card for The Advantage crew. We played an Under 229 for Jazz @ Warriors, got a late Steph Curry scratch which got the total to plummet to 219.5 pregame, and they would not even get that high - finishing with a Warriors win on a 217 total. Cash it!`
The Wednesday slate and current bets released are anything but mellow. Basketball fans will understand this pun, but nor is the card Melo as we are playing an under in Nuggets vs Knicks, the battle between Carmelo’s former teams. That number is not the best bet though! It has moved down from the open at 243.5 which was available at multiple places and we played it for a full 3units (and now are middling with the 240.5). So far we have released 14 bets across 11 games, suffice to say I like this card way too much. I’m not overexposed, but I am all across the board.
Two of the plays are Pelicans +2.5 (-107 at BetRivers currently), and Clippers -3 (-110 DraftKings, Caesars, Bet365). The Pelicans is for 0.5 unit, the Clippers was for 0.75 unit, but released at -2.5, so perhaps go 0.5u on both.
The Pelicans are home after a bad road loss to the surging Raptors. They simply could not buy a bucket, and watching that game it felt a lot like a ton of missed shots more so than bad opportunities. Now they take on the Dallas Mavericks who have been over preforming without Luka, and now are also missing Derrick Lively. The talent deficit for Dallas as the Pelicans get home and get their guys back should make this closer to a pickem, and yet the Pelicans are catch +2.5. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this at Pelicans -1 at tip off.
The second bet is Clippers ATS vs the Spurs. San Antonio is returning home from the two Paris games which was an incredibly emotional week, a ton of spotlight, time away from family, a big time zone change, and likely a reset to all the pregame routines. I expect a sluggish effort from San Antonio and to back this incredibly impressive Clippers team. This could also apply to Pistons vs the Pacers, but I have not played any side in that game… yet.
