NBA Best Bets Friday January 3rd
Now that the holidays are over we've moved into the meaty part of the NBA season. This is the time where contenders are supposed to start solidifying themselves while the bottom-feeders dive even deeper trying to ensure those losses. For that reason we played a full unit OVER 218.5 on the Nets/Bucks tonight. The market clearly felt the Bucks were the side, but I wanted no part in laying -12.5 or more with them against a Brooklyn team that has been well-coached and covering spreads all season. However, with a spread that large, the over is going to be in play. Brooklyn also brought in D-Lo recently in place of Finney-Smith, which should also lead to a faster offense and a worse defense. We saw the line climb all the way to 224 prior to tip. If you played that number back, you hit a middle with the final score of BKN 113 to MIL 110. Great time to avoid the spread but grab the correlated total.
We also played a small Giannis Antetokoumpo Over 28.5 points prop, which didn’t cash because of this play. It’s easy to laugh off a small loss when overall it was another winning night. Sometimes simply the rim is the rim protector 😂.

The Pelicans have been playing with vastly increased tempo the last couple of weeks now that they are no longer fielding a G-League roster, and the Wizards have the majority of their veterans back now as well. Those Wizards players who were out (Kuzma, Poole, Brogdan) all love to score and are not the greatest on defense. This line has already ballooned to 232.5 as of writing this and I expect it to go even higher. Yet another example of why being in the WHOP and getting these picks in real time is key. Play this to 233.5, but play it smaller as the line gets higher.
