NBA Best Bets January 2nd

A flat start to the year where I won the big bet, lost the smaller ones, and was net -0.025u. I’ll live and move on quickly; this is how.

Celtics -2.5 (1.5u)
Celtics/Thunder Ov 238.5 (0.5u)
Celtics opened as a 2.5 road favorite. This number can still be found at DraftKings and BetMGM. I grabbed it because of strong sharp splits and quick movement at other books onto the 3. I don’t expect to play it back, I expect it to land at 3.5 and ride it through. I also like the over in this spot. Both of these teams can score at all three levels, and I expect pace and possessions to be high.

Nets +6.5 (0.5u, everywhere)
Nets +220 ML (0.25u, BetRivers)
Nets/Pelicans Under 230 (1u, Caesars)
These bets are all correlated ways to play into a sharp nets position. The Pelicans at home do not scare me, they just blew two games to the Grizzlies and had to hold onto a win against the Jazz. The money coming in on the nets cant be ignored, but missing the original +7 was tough. It is universally at +6.5, and probably stays close to there as well. With a bet on the dog, I added an escalator on the ML as well. I also noticed books dropping the total to 228.5 with Caesars still having a 230, and the open being 231. This 230 is going to drop. I dont expect too far, but it does show the strongest spot since we missed the 7 in the spread.
