We had some ridiculous results around the NBA last night, from both a pure hoops perspective to the betting market.
The league featured: an overtime win by the New York Knicks vs the Philidelphia 76ers, each without their superstar big man. The Hawks won outright without four of their starters, including no Trae Young. Finally, the 14 point underdog Toronto Raptors would end up with a 13-point win over the fully healthy Boston Celtics on their home court.
But that's not all! Most notably, we hit on two middles. PJ Washington Points Over 13.5 and Under 15.5 for +2u, he had 14 points and scored the final 2 in the last 20 seconds of the game by knocking down a pair of free throws. The Hornets mounted a ridiculous comeback vs the Jazz, cashing the -3.5 side and pushing the +5, netting another +2.5u. It was a dominant day in results that felt very lucky in reality, at +4.87u brining January through 15 days to be +14units. Nuts!
The highlight has to be King James and the Lakers with a big 2nd half comeback win, which featured a Lebron James masterclass. Here was a series where he scored on 3 straight possessions for LA to seal the deal.
There are already 7 bets in the WHOP as of writing, and one of which is CLE Cavaliers to cover the spread against OKC +3.5. The Thunder ruled out Isaiah Hartenstein earlier today due to a calf injury and he's expected to miss at least 1 week. Keep in mind that OKC was still rolling as the #1 Defense in their micro ball lineups with JDub at the five earlier this season without Chet or iHart.
So lets look to fade the red hot Jarrett Allen in Cleveland. Recently, he's been a key part of the Cavs' offense (10 FGAs per game) with 76.7 True Shooting %. However, with OKC's micro ball, I expect Mobley to take the bulk of the action. So it's Jarrett Allen under 13.5 points (-106) at Caesar's for today's best bet. One caveat is I expect this to go up to 14.5 and bet it at a better number. Wait on this, and take the under before tip. I have not bet it yet, but plan to.
