NBA Best Bets Wednesday October 23rd

Sharp sides in the market go 4-0 on NBA opening night sides and totals, and that is always good news for the way I handicap. It led to a sweep of my positions* and a +2.3u night. I am not one to get caught up in single slate results at all, just feels good to start good. Let’s hope it keeps rolling. Another card I am set up with very strong numbers (except one 🤮 can you spot it?)

*When I say sweep of my positions, it’s because I had Celtics -4.5 (1u) and played back some Knicks +5.5 (0.5u) when the KAT trade happened a few weeks ago and started pushing the number back to 4.5/5 (would close at Cs -6). I was still tilted in the direction of the Celtics ATS, and thus while the split is 1-1, it returns a profit and is a winning position on the game side of Celtics/Knicks. In reality this is completely meaningless, its just the way I word things - what matters is results.

I’ll quickly break down Houston Rockets -6 and Warriors -5.5, because its a similar cap. 6 is the most common outcome in the NBA the last 3 seasons, so it is the most important number to betting an NBA spread. If you can get closing line value relative to the 6, its the most important NBA hook to obtain. Don’t care whos playing, don’t care where the game is, give me the CLV side before the game hits or moves off of the 6, and I’m in.
