Monday night in the NBA saw the two teams down 0-1 breathe some life into their playoff chances, as both the Pistons and Clippers tied the series 1-1 on the road. The Knicks were no where to be found: poor shooting, poor rebounding, and too many turnovers were the tale of the tape. The Pistons were impressive, I got to hand it to them. Cade is becoming a superstar, the type that I predict will be the starting PG for Team USA during the 2028 Olympics in LA (and I will be there watching, 100000000%). The Clippers/Denver series is incredibly high level basketball, both teams are executing the question becomes who throws the last punch - I think the Clippers emerge in control as we head to LA.
On Tuesday we welcome back one of my favorite players ever, Dame Lillard. Lillard is returning from the blood clot he was diagnosed with just a few months ago. This is awesome news as the Bucks have been ousted in the first round the last two seasons dealing with Giannis injuries and him missing playoff games. I did not want the Bucks story to be another key injury closing the season early- lets see what this team has!
The Lillard return is not 100% official yet. We have reports Dame is cleared, targeting Game 2 or Game 3, was upgraded to questionable, and the line has moved from Bucks +6 and Over 227.5 (both released in the WHOP), to now Bucks +4 and a total at 229. That’s a lot of symbols, but here is one more. Dame on the court during Game 1 jawing with Tyrese Haliburton and seemingly saying “I’ll see you Tuesday,” and then repeating the word “Tuesday” a few times. Am I a professional lip reader? Maybe.
I think the Dame IN news comes tomorrow after Bucks shoot around. We likely hear about a ~25 minute limits restriction (which will be broken if needed), and the line will take another move towards Milwaukee. I think this is still actionable on the Bucks +4. When these teams played at full strength in March, Pacers closed as a -1 at home. The factors that seperate the two games are playoff intensity for a larger home court, and a possible Dame rust factor. Is that enough to justify 3 points different in the pricing? Nope, give me the Bucks ATS and ML. I think at current prices, 0.5u +4 and 0.25u ML boost is the way to go.
Also, do we really expect Portis, Brook, Kuzma, and Prince combine for 13 pts on 5/20 shooting?
If you want my advice on every other remaining Round 1 Game 2 spot, check out the show from Monday morning. The odds were out through Wednesday’s games, the lines are fairly static and at consensus, and so I went through every game - side/total/some props and series angles.
